Lodowick Metz Jr

To the oldest son of Lodowick Sr fell many responsibilities after the death of his father. At age 20 he was named a guardian of his younger brothers and sisters. We can assume he and the family were living with their father’s second wife, but the orphan’s court also assigned a separate guardian for each of the siblings due to Lodowick Jr’s young age.

Lodowick was born on his father’s farm in Rapho Township, Lancaster County, PA, British Colonial America

1756

Lodowick Jr, as the eldest son, took upon himself much of the legal aspects of his father’s estate after Lodowick Sr’s death

1777

Lodowick served the Patriot cause during the American Revolution

1794

In 1794 Lodowick Jr was indicted for “Keeping a Tippling House without a License”.  This was during the Pennsylvania Whisky Rebellion.
