Our Hagenbuch Ancestors

The Hagenbuch branch of the family is well documented in numerous sources which together with their website provides us with a rich history of the family.

Multiple men in the immigrant and 2nd generations served during the American Revolution, including Andreas Hagenbuch, the first-generation immigrant who was well into his 60’s by the time the war began.

Andreas Hagenbuch crossed the Atlantic aboard the Charming Nancy with his then-pregnant wife Maria Magdalena Schmutz. Andreas was 22 years old. Traveling by sea in the 1700s was a cramped, unpleasant, and an often deadly ordeal.
