Family Highlights
Here are a few brief snippets of what we now know
One of Grandpa Art’s great-grandfathers was Daniel Conner, father of Elizabeth Jane Conner. Daniel Conner was the son of Isaac Conner and Mary Ann Van Gundy. We were tipped off to that by information in a Mennonite Family Card (right). All we know with confidence at this time is that Daniel had a brother named Isaac Conner Jr, and a sister named Mary who married a Sykes.
There is a good chance that Isaac’s father was one Jacob Thomas Conner who married Magdalena MNU*. Records show a Jacob Conner served during the American Revolution. We are working our way back through the Conner ancestors, and it appears that he was born to a Samuel Conner and Elizabeth McCreary, and that their parents were Irish. Marriage records exist for them.
The great news for tracking down these little known ancestors is found in DNA matching. I have located to date about 80 DNA Matches descending from Jacob Thomas Conner via or Isaac Conner and his siblings.

As a side note, I find it fascinating how many of our family members are mentioned in books relating the history of other families. I have found a significant amount of information in these kinds of resources.
Interesting piece of family trivia: Jacob Van Gundy Sr, brother of Mary Ann Van Gundy Conner, married a Catherine Conner.
