Lewis John Metz
Lewis John was born Ludwig Hans
He changed his name when he turned 21
He served in the Lancaster Militia during the American Revolution
Born in Lancaster County, he served with the militia, apparently having duty for the officers and their families during the Revolution as an innkeeper, saddle maker, tailor and cartographer.
Family Life
After the war was over he went back to his father’s dairy farm in Sporting Hill. Some years later he moved the family to Huntingdon where he again had an inn and saddlery, later moving to Petersburg where he was both a saddler and a farmer. About 1800 he moved once again, to Ohio, where he is buried.
